I have been asked many times in the past from first time Lake Como’s visitors this question: How can I easily reach Lake Como from Milan (MXP Malpensa LIN Linate or BGY Bergamo) Airports? It is now time to give an answer that satisfies all the criteria. I will list all the pros and cons of traveling with a private transfer versus public transportation or regular taxi.
PROS:
Your driver will be waiting for you at the arrival with your name on a welcome board or iPad and will take care of your luggage. From this moment on you do not have to think of anything else because the driver will show you the way out of the airport and/or any other information.
He will also already know in advance where you will be staying on Lake Como and he will be sure that you won’t lose any of your precious holiday time looking for your Airbnb or hotel, even if is not in a central location.
Once you are in the car you can finally sleep, listen to some good music, enjoy the view or you can speak with the driver about your exciting vacation plans in our beautiful country. You will be sure to receive plenty of local knowledge from our professional drivers.
If you decide to go for public transportation (the cheapest option) be prepared for a long, long journey.
First take a train to Como (with a possible change in Saronno). Then in Como you can take a local bus that could take more than 1 hour without good connection or the Hydrofoil that does not run very often and has many stops.
If you prefer to go for a regular white taxi, which you can find just outside the airports, you have to know that the price is very unpredictable. Taxi are not that familiar with the towns of Lake Como or how to drive the winding and narrow roads. This would make what could be a beautiful and safe driver a very uncomfortable and potentially nauseous driver.
These are your options of getting to your destination on Lake Como, and as you can see the most convenient, safe and comfortable option is to use a private transfer.
We can’t really think of any CONS to list, so we hope you will consider contacting us for your next trip to Italy!
